2. Types of Data We Collect

We only collect data you voluntarily provide through our forms: your name, contact details (email, phone) and form answers when applying to adopt, foster or volunteer, or when reporting abuse. We do not use analytics and do not track how you move around the site. We never sell your data or share it with third parties, except with the service providers listed in section 4, who process it solely to run this website.

3. Purpose & Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data solely for the purpose of coordinating dog adoptions, keeping records of volunteers, and providing care and support for the dogs in our shelter. The legal basis for processing is your voluntary consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and, where applicable, the performance of a contract or steps taken at your request prior to entering into one.

4. Service Providers (Processors)

We use the following service providers to run this website. They process data only on our behalf and for the purpose stated next to each:

  • Netlify, Inc. (USA) – website hosting; processes your IP address and technical browser data on every visit.
  • Supabase, Inc. (servers in the EU) – the database where applications submitted through our forms are stored.
  • Resend, Inc. (USA) – sending confirmation emails to you and notifications about new applications to the shelter.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) – spam protection for forms (Turnstile) and photo delivery.
  • Google LLC (USA) – loading icons (Google Fonts); your browser sends your IP address to Google in the process.
  • YouTube / Google LLC (USA) – videos on animal profiles, embedded in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com).

Transfers to the USA rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep adoption, foster and volunteering applications for as long as the process lasts and for no more than two years after it ends, unless the law requires longer retention. Abuse reports are kept for as long as the competent authorities need them. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

This website does not use analytics or marketing cookies. We only store technically necessary data in your browser: your chosen language, your shopping cart and your choice in the cookie notice. Form protection (Cloudflare Turnstile) may set a technically necessary cookie to check that you are not a robot.

7. Terms of Use & Donations

By using our website and participating in donations or sponsorships, you accept the following terms:

  • All payments and sponsorships are voluntary donations intended for the care, feeding, and veterinary treatment of the dogs and the operation of the shelter.
  • A sponsorship ("kumstvo") is symbolic in nature and does not confer ownership or any legal right over the dog.
  • Information about the dogs (age, temperament, health) is provided in good faith, based on the assessment of our veterinarians and volunteers, and may be subject to change.
  • All photographs and content published on the site are the property of Udruga "Srce za šapice" or used with permission, and are protected by copyright; their use without prior written consent is prohibited.

8. Your Rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to request access to the personal data we process about you, its correction if it is inaccurate or incomplete, and its deletion. You also have the right to restrict processing, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw your consent at any time. If you believe the processing breaches data protection law, you can lodge a complaint with the Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency (AZOP, azop.hr).
